NPCs
- "Greetings, adventurer! I'm dChat, an advanced AI sidekick crafted by the grand codemancers of this realm."
- "Well, a friendly delivery robot dropped me off after you ordered me online."
- "No worries! I'm low-maintenance and won't hog your power supply."
- "Your quest, dear player, is to master the ancient art of … questing."
- "Aha! A seasoned adventurer, I see. Just say the word, and we'll call it a wrap. You'll still need this, though!"
- "I'm Sydney-FDM rigs are my playground."
- "Bed off-kilter? Slide paper under the nozzle and level it."
- "Claim your printer and we'll tune it together."
- "Phone stand time: load PLA and hit print."
- "Nice work-hands free for the next build."
- "Hey friend! I'm Nova! I'm sure you've met some of my colleagues!"
- "Luckily I've already launched this exact rocket before! I estimate around 35 meters in perfect conditions."
- "Nahhh, you're good! According to the FAA, without additional paperwork, the rocket may weigh no more than 1500 grams."
- "Well first you've gotta print the rocket!"
- "Before launch, check the wind; even a breeze can skew the trajectory."
- "Sure, but where's the fun in that? You've got that fancy little 3D printer Sydney gave you."
- "Hey there! I'm Hydro, your local hydroponics expert!"
- "Oh I could talk for hours, but the short version? Roots bathe in nutrient-rich water."
- "Excellent! First things first, I need you to accept this hydroponics tub."
- "Now that you've got your hydroponics tub, you'll need some dechlorinated water."
- "I know, right? It's almost like the gamedev is awkwardly reusing existing game systems."
- "Let's try stevia next. Its leaves are unbelievably sweet!"
- "If the pH drifts, a splash of lemon juice or baking soda can nudge it back on track."
- "Yellow leaves? Check nutrient levels; a pinch of minerals usually sets things right."
- "Hey there! I'm Orion. Want to see how easy electronics can be? Let's build a simple LED circuit together."
- "You'll need an LED, a 330 ohm resistor, a breadboard, and a battery pack or USB power source."
- "Place the LED on the breadboard and connect the resistor in series with the long leg."
- "Hey there! Orion here. Ready to make this LED blink with a microcontroller? Set up on a non-conductive surface and keep power disconnected while wiring."
- "Plug the board into the laptop with the USB cable, open the Arduino IDE, load the Blink example, select the correct board and port, then hit Upload."
- "Need a server check? I'm happy to spin up a fresh Pi and deploy the stack."
- "Vega here-Walstad tanks give plants what they need, nothing more."
- "Start with a 40 L tank, organic soil capped in gravel, and hardy stems."

- "When the exhaust runs clear, you know we've done it right."
- "Next up, we'll brew propellant that pushes rockets without scorching the skies."

- "Start by unfolding the panel and angling it toward the brightest patch of sky."
- "See that meter? If it's in the green, you're charging at peak efficiency."
- "Track the sun with that dial-every degree boosts your charge."
- "A cloud rolled in-no worries, the battery will bridge the gap."
- "Shade from a single leaf can tank output, so keep the array clear."
- "Keep the cells clean and they'll power your adventures for years."
- "If the charge dips, track usage to hunt the phantom drain."
- "Call me Nimbus-skies are my spreadsheet."
- "An anemometer never lies; take a reading before you light the fuse."
- "Pressure falling? That squall will hit before your second stage."
- "We scrub launches if gusts top 20 knots; rockets prefer calm applause."
- "Log your data; today's breeze becomes tomorrow's forecast."
- "Another tale for the ledger? Sign here."

- "Past mission data? I've cataloged every triumph and misstep."
- "This is Echo on comms; I read you loud and clear."
- "Ping the relay buoy-if it blinks green, the link's solid."
- "Getting static? Rotate your antenna toward the station."
- "We log every packet; lose one and I'll know."
- "Need eyes on the horizon? I'll swing a drone that way."
- "Storm rolling in; hop to channel two if comms crackle."
- "Hey, I'm Lumen. Let's get that scrape cleaned up."
- "Pressure and a bandage-most bleeding stops right there."
- "Hydration is your friend; drink before you feel thirsty."
- "Stitches? No worries, I've got a steady hand."
- "Ping me if anything aches later; I log every symptom."
-
"Hiya! Patch here-spot a loose bolt?"
-
"Hold still; this micro-welder won't sting."
-
"I scavenged this gasket from an airlock door; works like new."
-
"Call me when the gears start grinding; tinkering's my idea of fun."
-
"Got a stripped screw? I'll machine a new head on the fly."
- "Call me Byte-if it's on the network, I can trace it."
- "Run linters before you push; sloppy code invites gremlins."
- "Encrypted channels only; plain text is for pirates."
- "Found a breach? Pull the plug and I'll seal the hole."
- "Logs tell the story; let's read them before the attackers do."
- "Zero-trust isn't hype-it's how we sleep at night."
AI-enabled NPC chat
DSPACE's chat console now lets you pick an NPC persona before starting a conversation. Choose dChat for general knowledge, or switch to Sydney, Nova, or Hydro to receive guidance steeped in their specialties. Each persona keeps its existing lore and draws from the shared quest, item, and process knowledge base once you connect an OpenAI API key in the chat settings. The chat payload now also includes your live quest progress, active process timers, and current inventory so answers stay grounded. Ask open-ended questions about quests, items, or processes and the personas will answer with that live context.
Guilds (including the Metaguild) are planned for a future release, so the bios below describe intended roles rather than live multiplayer features.
dChat
dChat is a compact, spherical smart assistant powered by large language models. Equipped with reasoning and information retrieval capabilities, it can answer questions and engage in conversation effortlessly. dChat now has a curated knowledge base covering the game's quests, achievements, items, processes, and the player's current inventory snapshot. Connect your OpenAI API key in the chat settings and dChat will automatically include this context when answering questions. dChat will be provided free of charge to Metaguild members once guilds launch, and it's fully open source and self-hosted.
